About me

My name is Long. I am currently a software engineer at Adatao, Inc. I was educated for nearly 12 years in Vietnam at Chu Van An primary school, Giang Vo secondary school, and High School for Gifted Students, Hanoi National University of Education. During this time in Vietnam, I mostly trained with Mathematics and participated district contests. I compete in the national Vietnamese Olympiad in Informatics in my 11th grade and got a second prize. I flew to the UK to study A-Level at the beginning of my 12th grade. I attended Abbey College Cambridge for two years, taking two Maths subjects, Physics and Computing. Beside, I participated in several British Oylmpiads and got one Gold and one Silver medal in British Mathematics Olympiad (2007 and 2008), was in top finalists in British Informatics Olympiad 2007 and one Bronze medal in British Physics Olympiad (2008). Furthermore, I represented Great Britain to participated in International Olympiad in Informatics 2007 and got a Bronze medal.

The next page was my life was that I was admitted into the University of Cambridge for Computer Science and spent the next three years there. The most important achievement I got was a silver medal in ACM-ICPC 2009 in Nuremberg Germany with two of the most intelligent guys of my age Ludwig Schmidt and Freddie Manners. I am also satisfied with what I learned there since I was touched with so many aspects of CS that I am still using it today.

In 2012, I joined University of Bristol for a master Machine Learning and Data mining (and High Performance Computing). It was wonderful there as I made a lot of friends (Dave, Arjun, Angi and Barny) and I really found what I liked most in Computer Science that combined programming skills and my mathematics and problem solving skills that I was learning until then. At the end of the course, I said bye bye to the UK and flew to the US for a 3-month internship in the US.

Then, I came back to Vietnam after 3 months and feel quite determined about my future. Google is really an inspiring place when you have a lot of information and resources to be successful. I was then working for Cốc Cốc search engine in Hanoi for another 3 months but the marriage did not turned out happily.

Now, I have moved to Saigon and have been starting working for Adatao, Inc for more than a month. We are building a great tool for data scientist to reduce their time of managing, transforming and computing data. I'm feeling excited now :D
